Description
These are the two observation towers of the New York State pavillion of the 1964-65 World's Fair that was held at Flushing Meadows Park, Queens, New York. At the close of the fair, the entire pavilion and towers were ultimately abandoned, left to rust and crumble over time, assisted by persistant vandalism. Efforts in 2008 to raise $25 million for repairs or $40+ million for full restoration and use failed to gain widespread support. Donations are being accepted, however, and some repairs are being undertaken as funds allow.
